In the XVI century we konw about a property of Bernardini family in Segromigno Monte. It was a large agricultural land on the north hills of Lucca, between Segromigno and Valgiano, with wine and olive oil cultivation in a panoramic position in the plain of Lucca.
There were country buildings and a master’s house the one that we today know as Villa Bernardini. This property wasn’t very important for the rich Bernardini Family, but it grew up thanks to investment of earl Francesco Bernardini. He bought the neighbouring property of Buonvisi family with the country houses and the Villa of the XV century joining all the properties. He also planted new vines and olive tree. In the XIX century the earl Cosimo Bernardini very care about the Villa of Segromigno, started to extend it; his only daughter Antonietta Bernardini married Raffaello Mansi in the last part of the XIX century great grandfather of the present owner, reason why now the property is named Fattoria Mansi Bernardini. The history of this property has been sometimes difficult and hard but always enriched bythe love of his owner and of the person who work there.
Thanks to the father of the present owner, the property was saved after the big crisis of the sharecropping in fifties years of the XX century.
From 1980 the present owner has started the tourist development of the farm restoring first the Villas Buonvisi and Bernardini and the farmhouses. He also intensified olive oil production planting 2500 trees in 20 years.
